Product Plug

Hey--remember this guy? A photo of Nut Stash Jar is posted during the leather hard stage in the previous post. Now he's all dressed up in black, green and yellow. The dark palette is a departure from my current body of candy-colored work on white. Because the jars depict the act of looking for previously-buried nuts, I turned to darker colors, representing the underground world.

I was definitely experiencing eye strain while I was working on these, so I have to plug a recent purchase, the Donegan Optivisor. Yes, it looks weird--even weirder when worn, but works great. The headband magnifier made detailing the little squirrel finials so much easier. My eyes were going crazy before I got that thing! The level of detail I was able to get on the squirrels really improved. changed. my. life.

  1. cheyenne used one of those headband magnifier things for a halloween costume one year. that was it i think, just the headband thing. it was funny. love the new work chandra. hope you're well.

  2. Thanks Nigel! Are you guys dressing up for Halloween this year?

  3. We can add the Donegan Optivisor to devices that changed the world. Computer, cell phone, Ipod, Optivisor. It fits right in.

I like the darker colors. It would be cool to have a piece that is half above ground hyper color and half below ground like the pictures taken half above water and half below water.(Like these > always trips me out but I love it.

I hope your enjoying the fall.

  4. Oh heck yes, I love those, too. I remember floating around forever at the swimming pool with my goggles on, trying to get a half under/ half over water view.

I loved your post on the Yixing teapots, Ben. I have to say, that teapot with the squirrel knocked my socks off. Bet it was even better in person. All of the yixing pieces you posted are sooooo lush.
